He had a few compositions published by Viscount Music and then started his own company with Martin Beesis called Fanfare Records. With the encouragement of Dick Leahy, Simon signed with CBS Records (now Sony), and opened a small office on Brook Green in Hammersmith’s Shepherd’s Bush Market. He started work as a manager for Jimmy Hinsley, an artist who was not very successful in music.
