Career
Arjun Tendulkar played a couple India U19 Tests in 2018. In two Tests, he scored 14 runs and got 3 wickets. At the outset of the U19 World Cup, he was too old to compete. In January 2021, Arjun was selected for Mumbai’s senior Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020–21 team (India’s top T20 competition). In two games, he took three wickets and scored three runs in Mumbai’s worst-off season.
Arjun worked temporarily with coach WV Raman during India’s Sri Lanka tour when Rahul Dravid was in England with India A. At an NCA residential camp in Dharamsala, Arjun impressed with his speed and precision in Himachal Pradesh during academy games. His Mumbai age-group cricket performances have helped him improve swiftly by improving his speed and technique. Mumbai Under-19’s Arjun took 19 wickets in 5 games in the 2017–18 Cooch Behar Trophy, his final competitive competition for evaluation.
He hit a fast 48 in his opening batting debut for a CCI XI at Adelaide’s Bradman Oval in January 2017, adding four wickets. The MCC selected him in July 2017 to play Namibia’s Under-19 team in England. As MCC’s captain, he took four wickets to defeat the opposition.
Despite the weight of quick bowling and his father’s heritage, Arjun has stayed calm while making the U-19 team. In July 2018, his first wicket and debut duck against Sri Lanka in the Youth Test overshadowed his teammates. He seems to be okay with the spotlight. Yet that is part of a legacy. If he joins the Indian national team, a billion Indians and Sachin Tendulkar’s legacy will certainly place greater pressure on him than on his father.

Early Life
Dealing with legacies isn’t always easy. India is discussing nepotism, especially in this decade, and living up to a family tradition can be difficult despite appearing privileged. It’s hard to meet public expectations as a descendant of the greatest batsman. In your country, being the son of a cricket god makes it nearly impossible.
Arjun Tendulkar wants to do what his father couldn’t. At the MRF pace academy in 1987, Dennis Lillee told 14-year-old fast bowler Sachin Tendulkar that his height and body type were unsuitable for fast bowling. Arjun Tendulkar, his second-born child, was on track to become India’s left-arm bowler after Zaheer Khan’s retirement in 2014.
In his teens, tall and muscular Arjun had the best resources and supervision to study fast bowling, and he developed a curved run-up and a real outswinger’s motion in his early career. He can swing late and fast for his age. Besides fast-bowling, he can bat lower-middle-order with the long handle.
Coach Atul Gaikwad, a fast bowling biomechanics and aerodynamics expert, has been working with Arjun on his bowling movement. Stress fractures that took almost a year to heal in 2016-17 pushed Arjun to change his strategy. In Bangalore’s National Cricket Academy, Gaikwad has helped Arjun start his cricket career. Subroto Banerjee, his father’s colleague, has trained Arjun together with Gaikwad, according to Umesh Yadav and Rajneesh Gurbani.
The teenager has routinely bowled in the nets for India, giving him lots of experience against the best. He also bowled to the Indian women’s squad before the 2016 Lord’s World Cup final. Before the South Africa Tests, Arjun’s yorker speared into Jonny Bairstow’s toe, scaring him.
Although Rahul Dravid is in England with the India A team, Arjun has worked with WV Raman, India’s temporary coach for the Sri Lanka visit. The NCA residential program in Dharamsala saw Arjun amaze with his pace and accuracy in the academy games in Himachal Pradesh. In Mumbai’s age-group cricket, he’s risen quickly as he improves his pace and ability daily. The 2017-18 Cooch Behar Trophy was Arjun’s last competitive competition for assessment, and he took 19 wickets in 5 games for Mumbai Under-19.
In his first opening batsman innings for a CCI XI at the Bradman Oval in Adelaide in January 2017, he scored 48 and took four wickets. As MCC’s spearhead, he took four wickets to demolish Namibia Under-19 in England in July 2017.
Controversy
Mumbai Indians bought Arjun Tendulkar for Rs 20 lakh in the IPL closeout/auction. Between 2008 and 2013, Sachin Tendulkar played 78 games with the Mumbai Indians. Arjun Tendulkar’s recruitment was criticized on social media by fans who believed he was favored since he was the cricket legend’s son.
